Alicia Sacramone wins gold in the vault final at the 2010 world championships
"This week, Alicia demonstrated again how much value, leadership, and talent she brings to our program," said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics. "She is very deserving of this fantastic achievement."
"I am glad to be back representing the U.S.," said Sacramone, who was a member of the 2008 Olympic silver-medal team. "To walk away like I did after the Olympics, with so many injuries and being disheartened after the Olympics, it's nice to set my mind to something, work hard and come back and get a big reward for all the work that I've done. It makes it worthwhile. I've got a silver and a couple of bronze (medals) so it's nice to complete my collection of vault medals."

Gymnastics has helped me so much, its taught me how to be dedicated to something, how to work hard, how to achieve your goals, also to be organzied and how to try to balance my life out. I think it has helped me in school too because it has kept me organized and I’m always striving for a goal.

Compete against yourself #2
"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who
conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over self."

I got this in an email today and it just so happened that it had a similar meaning to the one I posted earlier today. I guess you could say this is the theme of the day.

Compete against yourself
"I never compete against the competition. The only one I compete against is myself, because one day I will beat the competition and then who will I compete against?"
-Billie Akauola
This is a cool quote that talks about how we should not think about what every body else is doing. This reminded me of a meet I had last year where I had beaten my all time score on the tramp. As you may have read in previous post I am not the best trampolinist. My strengths are floor, and Double-mini. At this meet I beat my all time score and improved my performance by a lot but I was ranked lower than I usually did on tramp. I had to remind my self that I was competing against my self. I beat my self therefor it was a good meet. The competition happened to better that day. But so was I.
